Direct neural control of hypersonic flight vehicles with prediction model in discrete time

چکیده
In this paper, the direct adaptive neural controller is investigated for the longitudinal dynamics of a generic hypersonic flight vehicle (HFV). The objective of the controller is to make the altitude and velocity to follow a given desired trajectory in the presence of aerodynamic uncertainties. Based on the functional decomposition, the adaptive discrete-time nonlinear controllers are developed using feeddesign, the altitude subsystem is transformed into the explicit four-step ahead prediction model. With the prediction model, the controller is proposed without virtual controller design. Furthermore, only one direct neural network (NN) is employed for the lumped system uncertainty approximation. The controller is considerably simpler than the ones based on back-stepping scheme and the algorithm needs less NN parameters to be adjusted online. The semiglobal uniform ultimate boundedness (SGUUB) stability is investigated by the discrete-time Lyapunov analysis and the output tracking error is made within a neighborhood of zero. Accordingly, the NN controller is designed for velocity subsystem. The simulation is presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed control approach. & 2013 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Adaptive Quaternion Attitude Control of Aerodynamic Flight Control Vehicles
Conventional quaternion based methods have been extensively employed for spacecraft attitude control where the aerodynamic forces can be neglected. In the presence of aerodynamic forces, the flight attitude control is more complicated due to aerodynamic moments and inertia uncertainties. In this paper, a robust nero-adaptive quat...

متن کاملModel Predictive Control Guidance with Extended Command Governor Inner-Loop Flight Control for Hypersonic Vehicles
The paper describes a control system for hypersonic vehicles that consists of an outerloop guidance layer and an inner-loop flight control layer. For the outer-loop, a Model Predictive Control approach is pursued to prescribe the desired bank angle and flight path angle commands so that the vehicle can follow the way points and avoid exclusion zones during its flight. For the inner-loop, a comb...
متن کاملA Four-Field Computational Framework for the Aerothermomechanical Analysis of Hypersonic Vehicles
Hypersonic systems for space access and with strike capability are currently being researched by the Air Force. Flight testing and clearing them is particularly challenging, because of the speeds at which they operate. When anything unexpected occurs, the time to react is so short that the tested system must be destroyed. Therefore, the predictive analysis of these systems is essential for dete...
متن کاملNonlinear Adaptive Dynamic Inversion Applied to a Generic Hypersonic Vehicle
Flight control of hypersonic vehicles is challenging because of the wide range of operating conditions encountered and certain aspects unique to high speed flight. A particular safety concern in hypersonic flight is the risk of an inlet unstart, which not only produces a significant decrease in thrust but also results in a change to the aerodynamics and thus can lead to the loss of the vehicle....
